BREAST IMPLANT BEFORE AND AFTER THE SURGERY
BEFORE THE SURGERY
General anesthesia is injected into the patient in order to make the surgery pain-free. The types of implants, the shape (contoured, round, tear-drop), and the size is discussed with the patient.
DURING THE SURGERY
A breast implant is inserted in the breasts in order to volumize the breasts of a patient. The implants are either placed behind the tissues of natural breasts or behind the muscles in the chest. Breast implants are placed using one of the three incisions as follows:
– Inframammary
– Axillary
– Periareolar
Implants are soft, flexible shells that are made of silicone and are filled with either silicone gel or saline gel.
After the incision is made, a pocket is made at the site of surgery. This separates the tissue of the breast from the chest muscles and tissues. The implants are placed inside the pockets and centered behind the breasts. After that, the incisions will be closed with stitches and then be bandaged with surgical tape and surgical glue.
AFTER THE SURGERY
After the surgery, your surgeon will advise you to wear compressed pads or a sports bra in order to support your breasts and the implants inside. Medication in case of pain after surgery would also be prescribed.
If your job is not physically demanding, you will be allowed to return to work within a few weeks. If that’s not the case, it may take longer for you to heal. Any strenuous activity for two weeks maximum is strictly prohibited.
The results with breast implants are long-lasting. However, the life span of breast implants is not forever. They are needed to be changed in ten or fifteen years. It is advised to maintain a healthy lifestyle after the surgery. Habits like smoking can hamper the process of healing.
Breasts implant before and after can show drastic changes in a person’s body. It can bring a new wave of confidence in the person. It makes them happier and more satisfied with their physical appearance.
If you feel any sort of discomfort after the surgery such as dizziness, swelling, redness around the breasts, fever, etc; contact your surgeon as soon as possible. It is mandatory to treat this as soon as possible to avoid severe complications like infection.
